All writers struggle with writer’s block from time to time. It just comes along with the territory when you choose to write for a living. There is a lot of advice on how to overcome writer’s block. What works for one person might not work for another. You have to find what works for you. There’s no denying, however, that Pinterest has become a very useful tool that many writers use to get new ideas for writing great articles.

On Pinterest there are thousands of ideas for articles right at your fingertips. Whether you are looking for a recipe, advice for how to plant a garden, holiday decorating ideas, or DIY wedding decor advice, you will find the inspiration you are looking for on Pinterest.   Before you write an article, it is necessary to first do research. Pinterest makes this part of your writing task very easy. Ideas and images are right at your fingertips, ready for you to sort through and organize. Just the act of organizing your Pinterest boards can give you new article ideas.   If you already have a Pinterest account, then you likely already have a number of boards set up to organize the ideas you find on Pinterest. If you haven’t already done this, it is not too late to start. When choosing subjects for your boards, don’t be too general. Be as specific as possible. The more you narrow down your interests the better. Not only will you be able to easily find what you are looking for later, but your visitors will also be able to find what they are looking for when they are browsing through your Pinterest boards.

There are a number of ways to get the creative juices flowing while you are logged in to Pinterest. The first way is to go back and view items that you have already pinned. The goal is not to re-create something that has already been published, but to come up with something new. For instance, for seasonal articles, like articles related to fall recipes and crafts, you could combine ideas from several different pins and put them together into a new improved article.   Pinterest offers the ability to easily sort through pins on their site. First look on the boards of people you follow. Pinterest allows you to only follow the boards that interest you. If you follow someone who has 60 boards, you can choose to only follow 3 or 4 of their boards if some of the topics do not interest you.   After you have looked at the pins of people you follow, next check out what the rest of the world is pinning by choosing the “everything” link at the top of the page.    If you are looking for ideas on a specific niche, then narrow your search down by choosing a category like “Food and Drink” and “Home Decor”, etc.

One useful tool that Pinterest features is the ability to follow trends on Pinterest by choosing the “Popular” link. This is especially useful if you are trying to find ideas for timely articles and you want to find out what other people are interested in during any given moment in time. Jumping in on trends will get your articles noticed by potential publishers and make it a lot more likely your articles will get published.   After you have looked through everything there is to see on Pinterest, search Google Images and pin the images you find to your Pinterest boards. Create new boards, if necessary, to organize your new finds.    If you know other writers in your niche, search their Pinterest boards too, and also consider creating group boards where you can share tips and ideas with other writers.   Pinterest is an indispensible tool for overcoming writer’s block. There is something about looking through pages and pages of images that gets those creative juices flowing and puts you back on the path to writing great articles.
